To begin, let me just give you an idea of how goofy my boyfriend is. Robert is the type of man who walks through a grocery store dancing and singing or gets so tickled that he slaps the table when laughter just simply isn’t enough. My personality, on the other hand, is very introverted compared to my boyfriend. I do dance and sing while I’m walking through the grocery store, but only when I have my fussy little girl in my arms. We do relate on so many levels, but honestly we are very different.
Do you know that saying, “Opposites attract?”, well, that is most certainly the case when it comes to my relationship. My boyfriend and I have known each other for about three years now, roughly. We first met when I was working at a grocery store in my home town. We began just sitting together at the same table on lunch or break when he was there because we had some mutual friends at that store. Long story short, we ended up having a crush on one another and he was kind enough to ask me out to dinner. Of course we didn’t actually get to go on our first date thanks to car trouble, but that led to a three hour phone conversation that was just as great, if not better than an actual face-to-face date. That wonderful conversation turned into about a month of phone calls and dinner dates before Robert asked me to be his girlfriend. That was a little over two years ago now.
Although I was extremely hesitant to go on a date with Robert, I am so happy that I did. The first thing you should know about why I was hesitant, is that he is a little over eleven years older than I am, I have never been one of those to focus on age as long as both parties are of age. Well what everyone says about women being more mature than men is absolutely true. He is completely responsible when he needs to be, but my goodness he is such a goofball, my goofball. That man keeps me laughing day in and day out with the most simple things.
